Poem: Age Seventeen

Age Seventeen

I learned to love when I was seventeen.
I learned to love like I had never before.
The one who taught me how to love was you.
You guided me through the sweet words and poems that you dedicated to me.
I thought my first love would be complete, but I was wrong.
I was too young to overcome the pain of losing you at seventeen.
I wanted to be with you forever because you were so wonderful, so tender, and so beautiful.
Your words, and even your lies, kept me happy.
The day you left me, I didn't know what to do.
I hung to the walls crying and remembering every last minute with you.
I looked into the mirror and asked why I was without you, but there was no one to answer me.
I was seventeen and loving someone was too much for me.
Loving someone was great at first, but I didn't ask for pain and tears.
If only love was there for me when you broke me down.
