Poem: Before the Lights Go Out
Before the Lights Go Out
When
winter comes, the wind will bring back the long-lost memories I want so much to
forget.
When
winter comes, the snow will once again fill the ground, and I’ll begin to think
about you.
I’ll
think about those winters we spent together, and then I’ll realize once again
you’re gone.
I
want to be like spring, happy forever when the cold wind dies down.
I
want to be like spring, happy forever when the flowers grow and the birds fly
up in that beautiful blue sky.
But
whenever I think about you, and whenever winter comes back, they haunt me like
a ghost.
I
want to kiss and hold you, but it’s only a figment of my imagination because
you’ll never come back to me.
When
winter comes, you won’t be here to kiss me when the lights go out in the dark
quiet room.
No
more laughter from the heart, no more laughter from the love that you brought
into my life, and no more you.
There’ll
only be a dark shadow lurking around my heart like your love killing me softly
whenever winter comes around.
