Poem: A Fool For You

  In celebration of Poetry Month:

 A Fool for You

I was a fool in love when you walked into my life.
You told me how much you loved me and how beautiful I looked.
You told me how you couldn’t sleep when you closed your eyes because you kept on seeing my wonderful smile and lovely lips in your dreams.
I was a fool when you told me how much my love meant to you.
I was a fool to give you everything and to trust you.
But how could I have not loved your words?
The words that praised me and made me cry.
When you told them to me, they went through my heart.
I loved you with everything in my life.
I was a doll, a puppet, and you were playing your lies on me.
The tears of laughter turned to the tears of pain when you told me you never loved me.
You never meant a single word you said.
Everything you said, they were all so wonderful and so hard not to love.
Those lies, they were the killers of love.
A fool for you, and a fool to have loved you so dearly. 
Even though you don’t love me, I still love you.
I’ve forgotten about all the pain and tears that you’d given me.
The words that you gave me, they lifted me up, and I was happy.

A Look Back - Favorite Author: Lois Duncan

One of my favorite authors whose novels I loved to read during my teenage years was Lois Duncan. I was very sad to hear of her passing in 2016.  I read many of her teen, horror, thriller books including I Know What You Did Last Summer, Down a Dark Hall, Summer of Fear, and Killing Mr. Griffin. For me, the early 1990s represented a time when teen horror fiction novels were on the rise. Duncan was one of the authors who really captivated my interests even though most of her novels were written in the 1970s. However, the novels really pulled in a wider audience in the 90s with the teen/horror/thriller/suspense genre picking up thanks to many other authors including Christopher Pike, R.L. Stine, etc. Many of Duncan's novels are also not that long, which was how many of the young teen fiction novels were during this period. If you like the teen/horror/suspense genre, give Lois Duncan a read. I would recommend reading I Know What You Did Last Summer, Daughter of Eve, and Summer of Fear -

Poem: Baby, Try

  Baby, Try Try, baby, try, just to give us one more chance. Try, baby, try, to go back to our loving days. Our love has gone far from what we want it to be. If you’d just try, we can be together again. All we need is a chance for our love to grow. We’ve been waiting for all our lives to get through this, but if there isn’t a chance, we won’t get through it. Forget the pain that we’d created for each other. Close your eyes and forget every sad moments when we were together. Let yourself be free, give us a chance, and you’ll see that it’s worth trying. If we try to be lovers once again, there’ll be no regret, because our love will never be like it was before. Don’t give up on our love. Love is always here with us. So, baby, try again.
